Blues guitarist known for his bottleneck slide technique, Joe Colombo is originally from Italian-speaking Switzerland. Thanks to his long stays in the United States and his total dedication to American music, his musical roots are well defined and embrace blues in its various forms. Over the years, he has developed a repertoire of original songs and a unique, personal style that gives him an instantly recognizable sound and approach.

He made his debut at the beginning of the new millennium with an explosive instrumental album on the Italian record label Comet/Horizons. Thanks to “Natural Born Slider”, he emerges as one of the best and most original slide blues guitarists around at the moment. He crowned his talent and dedication to the blues guitar with countless tours in the US and Europe alongside American singer Terry Evans (Ry Cooder’s longtime vocalist, who also holds a recording credit for Eric Clapton). With Terry Evans, Joe took part in extensive tours across America, from Los Angeles to Chicago, Seattle, New York, Nashville, and New Orleans. In Europe, concerts at countless festivals and clubs have taken him to Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Serbia, and Macedonia. Again with Terry Evans, Joe played at the prestigious Vancouver Island Musicfest in Canada.

Today, Joe has returned permanently to Europe and since 2019 has been living in the city of Krakow in Poland, a country that had welcomed him in the past thanks to various tours and concerts. His love for blues and slide guitar is alive and strong, and Joe keeps his talent active by performing solo guitar concerts or in a trio at blues and jazz clubs and festivals. He is undoubtedly part of the last generation of musicians and artists who grew up before the advent of the internet and social media. He has shaped himself by playing live, and today more than ever he benefits from his experience, talent, and mature and authentic musicality.

Over the years, Joe has continued his musical journey by participating in a multitude of projects and collaborations. His last two albums, “StratoSlider” in 2017 and “New Horizons” in 2022, have defined the style and unique instrumental approach that represents him. This year, thanks to his recent collaboration with the JACARANDA guitar makers in Milan and a new custom-made guitar built especially for him, Joe is presenting a series of concerts and workshops dedicated to blues guitar and bottleneck technique, offering a repertoire that highlights his technique and takes the audience on a journey through the music and sounds that have always been his own: the blues.

Chitarrista blues conosciuto per la sua tecnica slide bottleneck, Joe Colombo è originario della Svizzera Italiana. Grazie ai suoi lunghi trascorsi negli Stati Uniti e la sua totale dedizione alla musica americana, le sue radici musicali sono ben definite e abbracciano il blues nelle sue diverse forme. Negli’anni ha sviluppato un repertorio di brani originali e uno stile unico e personale che gli permette un suono e un approccio subito riconoscibile.

Debutta all’inizio del nuovo millennio con un esplosivo album strumentale sotto l’etichetta discografica Italiana Comet/Horizons. Grazie a “Natural Born Slider”, emerge come uno dei migliori e più originali chitarristi blues slide del momento. Ha coronato il suo talento e la sua dedizione per la chitarra blues grazie a innumerevoli tour negli USA e in Europa al fianco del cantante americano Terry Evans (storico vocalist di Ry Cooder che vanta anche una partecipazione discografica per Eric Clapton). Con Terry Evans, Joe ha preso parte a estesi tour attraverso l’America, da Los Angeles a Chicago, Seattle, New York, fino a Nashville e New Orleans. In Europa i concerti a innumerevoli festival e club l’hanno portato a suonare in Svizzera, Italia, Austria, Germania, Francia, Spagna, Portogallo, Svezia, Norvegia, Danimarca, Polonia, Repubblica Ceca, Ungheria, Serbia e Macedonia. Sempre con Terry Evans, Joe ha suonato al prestigioso Vancouver Island Musicfest in Canada.

Oggi, Joe è tornato stabilmente in Europa e dal 2019 vive nella città di Cracovia in Polonia, paese che l’aveva accolto in passato grazie ai diversi tour e concerti. Il suo amore per il blues e la chitarra slide sono vivi e forti e Joe tiene attivo il suo talento proponendo concerti di chitarra sola o in formazione di trio nei club e festival blues e jazz. Fa’ senza dubbio parte dell’ultima generazione di musicisti e artisti cresciuti prima dell’avvento di internet e dei social media. Si è formato suonando dal vivo, oggi più che mai trae beneficio di quanto ha trascorso unendo esperienza, talento e un livello musicale maturo e autentico.

Negli’anni, Joe ha continuato il suo percorso musicale partecipando a una moltitudine di progetti e collaborazioni. I suoi due ultimi album “StratoSlider” nel 2017 e “New Horizons” nel 2022 hanno definito lo stile e l’inedito approccio strumentale che lo rappresenta. Quest’anno grazie alla recente collaborazione con la liuteria JACARANDA di Milano e una nuova chitarra custom-made, costruita appositamente per lui, Joe presenta una serie di concerti e workshop dedicati alla chitarra blues e la tecnica bottleneck proponendo un repertorio che mette in rilievo la sua tecnica accompagnando il pubblico in un viaggio nella musica e le sonorità che gli appartengono da sempre, il blues.
